uPVC insulates far better and costs less for ordinary residential openings. Thermally broken aluminium is stronger, so it carries larger panels with slimmer frames. We usually specify uPVC for bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms, and aluminium for very large sliders, stairwell glazing and anything above about 2.4 metres tall.

Not if the profile is UV stabilised and lead-free, which ours are. Yellowing happens with cheap unstabilised profile or recycled material. We supply a written warranty against discolouration.

Yes. We bend profile on a heated forming table from a site template, so semi-circular, segmental and elliptical heads are all possible, fixed or with an operable lower sash.

Ten years on the profile against warping, discolouration and manufacturing defects, five years on hardware, and five years on the seal of insulated glass units. Wear items such as gaskets and rollers are covered for two years.

Almost always. It is usually grit in the track or a worn roller, both of which are quick service jobs. Vacuum the track first — if it does not free up, book a service visit and we will replace the rollers.

No — misting between the panes means the perimeter seal of the unit has failed and moisture has entered the cavity. The glass unit needs replacing. Within the five-year seal warranty we replace it at no cost.
